Pope Francis comes to support the campaign against the Mexican government's desire to legalize marriage equality in the country.

Last June, the Mexican Supreme Court concluded that the prohibition of marriage for same-sex couples was unconstitutional, but that has not legalized marriage equality in the country, contrary to what happened in the United States.

However, President Enrique Peña Nieto has proposed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage because at the moment, only the capital territory Mexico as well as nine states allow marriage for LGBTQ couples.

A few days, the Pope has supported the opponents of the bill.

According to The Independent, at his blessing on Sunday, Pope Francis said he supported their protest "in favour of family and life, which in these times require special pastoral and cultural attention around the world".
