KKDI
, a leading Japanese telecommunications company that provides mobile phones, will include same-sex couples after Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward has started issuing partnership certificates for LGBT couples to let them get the same benefits as any married couple enjoys.
Indeed, KDDI offers its customers a discount for families that wish to equip mobile phones, but so far, this reduction did not include LGBT families.
To qualify for this reduction, KDDI request a partnership certificate as proof that it is a family.
After the decision of Shibuya to recognize all couples by issuing these certificates, the company also decided to do the same by allowing LGBT families to benefit from this reduction.
Let's hope KDDI will inspire other companies to do the same.
