In 2013, we started to follow April DeBoer and her partner Jayne Rowse, a couple of lesbian moms from Michigan determined to do everything to bring equal rights to their children. It is thanks to the courage and the will of these two women that the right to marry was legalized in the United States.

Today, we leave them in the best possible way. Indeed, April and Jayne were married this weekend!

After three years of struggle for equality that led them to the Supreme Court, April and Jayne have deserved to celebrate their marriage surrounded by their families and friends.

«Little did I know that you would bring me four beautiful kids ... and drag me into the Supreme Court,» DeBoer said while she read her vows. «I am honored to soon be your legal wife. ... You are my best friend. I promise to love you forever. I can't imagine my life without you and without our kids. I promise to stand by you forever.»

For the anecdote, it is Judge Bernard Friedman who officiated their marriage, the same judge who, upon hearing the complaint of Jayne and April, abolished the prohibition of marriage for same-sex couples in Michigan.

«They're so unbelievable,» Friedman said. «They always take the road that is best for everyone.»

«I'm really excited,» DeBoer said in a news conference. «This is the first step in the final step we're looking to achieve, which is to complete the second-parent adoption. I don't think we ever expected this day to come.»

We wish them much happiness!!!
