The Human Rights Council of the United Nations has appointed its first independent expert, a Thai Professor Vitit Muntarbhorn, in charge of making an investigation on discrimination and violence against the LGBTQ community.
For three years, Muntarbhorn will therefore focus on our community and on “violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity” as indicated by the measure passed last June by by the United Nations.
Muntarbhorn is not at his first investigation since he has notably worked for the protection of child victims of prostitution and pornography.
Let’s hope he does a good job for the LGBTQ community too.
