Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C refused the creation of a group for LGBT students and their allies within the University.
Administrators of the university were afraid that this group becomes an advocacy organization.
However, it is not for want of trying to explain the group won’t be created to oppose the point of view of the Catholic church on homosexuality but to help, to support LGBT students.
“In essence, this university denied CUAllies and LGBT students communion,” Ryan Fecteau, speaker of the Student Association at the D.C.-based university and the former director of the unsanctioned CUAllies, said in a statement. ”They said to us that we are not valued enough to participate in this campus community, this faith community, this human community because of our sexual orientation.”
