The CMA is described as being a voluntary national association of doctors who defends the access to great quality of health care.
Reid says she wants to work on three key point: the need for patient centric care, health of aboriginal people and physicians leading the charge for change, reports HQYellowKnife.
"There are real inequalities around the country," Anna Reid said in an interview.
The Globe and Mail wrote Dr. Reid is only the sixth woman to take the helm in the group’s 145 year history. She is also the first openly gay CMA president.
"Being a woman has never stood in the way of my doing anything and neither has being lesbian," she said.
